Our work is not simply about finding old things. It begins with imagining the time that has passed since the item was last stored, the atmosphere of the place where it was stored, and even the thoughts of its former owner.
There are things we can understand only because we have been observing the houses of Toyama for many years. The scars on a pillar, the small details in the corner of a chest of drawers, the warmth of the clay at the bottom of a vessel - all of these are fragments of the "memory" that the item holds.
We carefully weave together these memories and assess their value. We responsibly select only those items that are not just old or rare, but have a story to tell that should be passed on to the next generation.
