Antique Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Deep Bowl with Wave & Cloud Pattern, Qianlong Mark
Couldn't load pickup availability
This is an antique Chinese blue and white (Qinghua) porcelain deep bowl, featuring a dynamic wave and cloud pattern rendered with powerful brushwork alongside intricate octopus-style scrolling vines (Karakusa). The bottom bears the "Qianlong Nian Zhi" mark. The piece showcases a beautiful contrast between the soft white glaze characteristic of aged porcelain and the deep, rich tones of the cobalt blue. Due to its shape, this type of bowl has long been appreciated in Japan as a "Sakazuki-arai" (cup washer) for rinsing sake cups. In modern settings, its generous depth makes it versatile enough to be used as a decorative planter for medaka or goldfish, or as a striking centerpiece for interior decor. Please note that there are small chips on the rim consistent with its age, which add to its authentic antique character.
