【Product Overview】
This is a striking wooden statue created in 1976 by Taniguchi Nobuo, a celebrated artist of Inami Wood Carving (Inami Chokoku) and a Nitten exhibition artist. It depicts "Zennyo Ryuo" (The Good Dragon King), a rain-bringing deity, carved in the distinctive style of Enku, a famous Edo-period monk known for his rough-hewn "hatchet carving" (Natabori) technique. The artist skillfully captures the raw energy, simple lines, and enigmatic smile characteristic of Enku Buddhas (Enku-butsu). The back bears the ink inscription: "Zennyo Ryuo - 1976 - Taniguchi Nobuo". This piece stands as both a spiritual object and a work of modern sculptural art.
