【Product Overview】

This is an exquisite wooden lacquerware plate (or tray) intended for serving sweets (Kashiki). It features a glossy black lacquer base decorated with a sophisticated design of Peas (Endo-mame) using Maki-e and Raden (Mother-of-Pearl inlay) techniques. The golden vines and leaves are beautifully complemented by the pea pods inlaid with shell, which shimmer with iridescent colors against the dark background. The plate has a sleek, flat circular form with three small feet on the underside, giving it a slight elevation and an elegant profile. It is perfect for serving dry sweets (Higashi) during a tea ceremony or as a decorative display piece. Includes a wooden box with a label reading "Raden Maki-e Endo-e Bon" (Mother-of-Pearl & Maki-e Pea Design Tray).
