This is a "Guinomi" sake cup from Kankake-yaki, a traditional craft originating from Shodoshima in the Seto Inland Sea. Crafted by the third-generation artist Akimitsu Tanimoto, this piece features a deep, powerful coloration reminiscent of iron-rich soil and a rugged natural texture. The bold indentations on the side provide a comfortable grip while creating a dynamic visual rhythm. It is a functional piece of art that reveals its true charm when filled with sake, embodying the Japanese philosophy of "beauty in utility."
