【Product Overview】

This is a stunning wooden lacquerware bowl created by the Kyoto lacquer artist Heian Zofuku (Kano Zofuku). Titled "Toribachi-gata" (Bird Bowl Shape), it features a soft, slightly organic oval form. The interior is magnificently decorated with Haku-e (foil painting) or foil application techniques, utilizing metallic foils of different shades arranged in a geometric, scattered pattern. This creates a dazzling display of light and texture. The exterior is finished in a subdued dark brownish-black lacquer that retains a textured feel, providing a beautiful contrast to the brilliant interior. The inscription "Daikoku" (大黒) is carved on the bottom. It serves perfectly as a bowl for sweets (Omogashi) in a tea ceremony or as a sophisticated interior centerpiece. Includes a signed wooden box and cloth.
