【Product Overview】

This is an antique Chinese style red clay teapot (Zhuni or Zisha), featuring auspicious motifs treasured in Sencha tea ceremonies. One side of the body bears the inscription "Lian Nian You Yu" (連年有餘), a traditional lucky phrase meaning "May you have abundance year after year". The other side features a relief carving of a Figure with a Large Fish, visually representing the phrase (as the word for "Fish" sounds like "Abundance" in Chinese). In Japan, this figure is often identified as the lucky god Ebisu. The lid is decorated with a ruyi-head pattern border. There is a seal mark on the bottom. The unglazed clay has a fine texture that will develop a rich patina with use.
