【Product Overview】

This is an antique Old Imari (Ko-Imari) porcelain plate, likely dating from the late Edo to Meiji period (19th century). It features a "Sumikiri" rectangular shape (with cut corners) and is decorated in underglaze blue (Sometsuke). The design beautifully depicts a blooming Peony, a fluttering Butterfly, and a bamboo fence, utilizing negative space to create a balanced and elegant composition typical of Japanese aesthetics. Measuring approx. 19 cm x 16 cm (7.5 x 6.3 inches), it is a versatile size suitable for serving sashimi, grilled fish, or appetizers, and also makes a lovely display piece. The reverse side is decorated with simple scroll patterns. Includes an antique wooden box inscribed "Imari Flower & Butterfly Plate" and a yellow cloth.
